Every author must understand the basic eligibility for authorship and must be conscious of the impact of his/her writing on students and society. Perhaps, he/she must develop an ability of self-criticism.
As I am keeping the eyes on the academic sector and keen to know, how it is transforming after the introduction of API (Academic Performance Indicator) by UGC, India, in the recruitment of University professors. I discovered a boom (maybe a competition) among the college and university teachers for authoring books. Since authoring a book can increase the API irrespective to the quality and publisher of the book.
They mostly believe in the "Copy & Paste" formula. These manuscripts are much vulnerable to plagiarism. The infirmity is much severe in edited books.

These things are propagating with a high pace, because of the absence of any nation-wide regularity body who honestly review the manuscript of the authors before coming to print and public.
In my opinion, before planning to write a book, the author must understand the basic eligibility for authorship and must be conscious of the impact of his/her writing on students and society. Perhaps, he/she must develop an ability of self-criticism. During the writing phase, the author must refer the quality books and research papers and acquire a proper understanding of the subject and content of the proposed book.
